Between Sundays

It’s been a while since we have had a new blog post but it’s time to get back to it!  A lot has happened since our last Between Sunday’s blog…we have welcomed a new pastor, Rev. Farley Stuart, to our church, held Vacation Bible School where we hosted around 90 kids and enjoyed lots of summer activities.
But summer is coming to a close and parents and kids are gearing up to start a new school year this week. This past Sunday, we celebrated during both of our services by offering prayer and blessing to our students, teachers and administrators. We asked God to guide and bless them during the school year.
Also on Sunday, we celebrated Confirmation with those youth that completed confirmation classes.  Our 2016 Confirmation Class is listed to the right.  We celebrated 4 youth baptisms, 1 adult baptism and 5 baptism remembrances.
We had wonderful, spirit-filled services at both campuses on Sunday.  If you missed it, there are a few pictures below.  God is good!

Between Sundays

Over the past 6 days we have worked hard to get our First Fire location, a second campus of Winchester First, ready for its first service on April 24th at 11:22 am.  Volunteers from both campuses helped over the course of the week to help get the job done and we are so grateful for the support of our Winchester First family!  We are down to the final details and are excited about the new space, located at 2410 W. Lexington Road (the gym behind Emmanuel Episcopal Church).  We are very thankful for those that have put in any amount time at our new location over the last 6 days. God has great things in store for Winchester First!
Here are a few photos of the move and a few sneak peeks of the new space.

Another Holy Week is in the books!  Thanks to all who volunteered to make this year’s services happen.  As you know, we added some additional lunch and dinner services to accommodate those that could not attend the early morning services. Here’s some statistics from Holy Week:
Average attendance at morning service:  88
Average attendance at lunch services:  23
Average attendance at evening services:  57
Number of children that attended the Maundy Thursday Lesson : 31
The Crucifixion, which has been portrayed by the Winchester First youth group for over 50 years, has certainly become a community event.  What a wonderful way to celebrate the Good News Story of Jesus with our community!  We are so proud of our 3D Youth and their hard work and dedication to this powerful drama each year.  Thanks also to those that humbly volunteer to assist our youth with to make it possible.  We couldn’t do it without you!  Here are just a few pictures taken on Good Friday.

On Sunday, March 13th, we joined with the Pratt Family (Elliott, Katie & daughter, Caroline) as they celebrated the baptism of the newest addition to their family, Conner.  Here are a couple of pictures so you can share in their joy as well!

Will Henry 2
This past Sunday, we celebrated with Will Henry at the Main Campus as he remembered his baptism and also joined in the membership of the church. Will also delivered his testimony to youth attending Sunday Night 3D at College Park.
Will is an active member of our youth group and we are thrilled to have him as part of our church family!

If you missed this past Sunday, you missed the Huge Announcement about CHAOS Youth Conference. Chaos is a youth conference hosted by 3D Youth & Winchester First taking place April 29th – May 1st.

We will be inviting in 300 youth, grades 6-12, from our community to come and experience the love of God, His grace, and His forgiveness – some of these youth may be hearing this message for the first time. We will also help them to live a Christian life even in the midst of the CHAOS that each teen goes through.

This event will consist of 4 sessions where we will speak life into the next generation. We will also be bringing in some professional entertainers from across the country.

  • Friday Night / Session #1
  • Saturday Morning / Session #2
  • Saturday Night / Session #3
  • Sunday Morning / Session #4

This is a large undertaking and a huge leap of faith taken by our youth team and church leaders. It will require all hands on deck in order to make this happen! These 300 kids will be staying with us the entire weekend – that’s right, we will house them in our homes and show them Christ’s love for 42 straight hours. In order to house this many kids, we need your help and your participation.

We need 40 families to sign up and agree to  host and house these wonderful kids in your home for the weekend.

We know this is a big undertaking and a huge responsibility – but we know this is what God is calling us to – and if God is in it, He will bless it!  Will you please be prayerful about how God can use you through this event in order to grow His kingdom right here in Winchester?

Area Needs:

  • Host Homes – 40 homes needed
  • Business Sponsors
  • Prayer Partners
  • Saturday afternoon chaperones

If you have any question please feel free to contact me at any time. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through this weekend and I invite you to be part of something special and life changing!!!

God’s Love,

Robbie Shrout

Between Sundays

This past Sunday, we celebrated the baptism of Rileigh Shrout at Dunaway. The service concluded with the congregation singing Rileigh’s favorite song, Our God is Greater.
Rileigh loves to give and receive hugs, so next time you see her, give her a big hug to welcome her to the Kingdom!
Here are some pictures from her baptism.

We have so much to celebrate at Winchester First!  On January 31st, we welcomed Duncan Whitley as a member, as he took membership vows and also did a Remembrance of Baptism. Also, on February 7th, we celebrated the baptism of Abby Crase.  We love to see our church family grow!
